While Waiting

Many women dream of getting married one day. Some get married earlier than others. When marriage delays, we ladies tend to feel pressure and sometimes end up marrying the wrong person out of the desire to just be married.

If you are waiting to be married, there are so many things we can do while you wait. This is the time to discover your purpose, personal goals, and take care of yourself. The word of God in Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” meaning that instead of worrying about when you will get married and to whom, seek God, serve in His House, do good to others, and God will give you the desires of your heart.

It is hard to make a choice on the partner you want if you don’t know yourself and your purpose. When you seek God, he will give you wisdom and you will be able to identify your purpose. Take Joseph in the Bible. If he did not know his purpose was to be governor, he would have slept with Potiphar’s wife. But because he knew his identity and trusted what God’s plan was for him, he managed to flee and at the end, he got to his destiny.

While waiting, we need to identify who we are and pursue our dreams. Let the one God ordained to be your partner find you pursuing your dream, not just waiting impatiently to be married. Proverbs 3: 6 says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” So in whatever we want to do, let us acknowledge God and he will guide us.

The word of God also says in Ecclesiastes 12: 1, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say I have no pleasure in them.” We need to do the things of God while waiting and in our youth because it is now that we can serve the Lord without the added responsibilities of being a wife or mother.

We need to have faith that God will open the door of marriage in our lives. We need to be women of substance. I understand marriage is a blessing from God and the devil hates marriage that is why he always seeks to undermine it. It is always wise to start everything with God so that when there are challenges in your marriage, you can always rush back to God and He will help you fix them.

God is always faithful and fulfills the promises he made in his word. Genesis 2:18 says “It is not good for a man to live alone therefore I shall make him a helper.” God made us helpers and when we seek him with all our hearts, he will send the right man and bless us with a happy marriage. When we wait upon God, we will never be weary.
