Surviving in ‘Less Than Ideal’

Every now and then you will find yourself in a situation that is far from ideal. You will be placed in an environment you feel is impossible to survive in – a place you feel was never designed for you. In fact, it will be so far from ideal that all you will want to do is shrivel up and die.

There will be no breadcrumbs leading you back to normal. You will be so disoriented you won’t even know how to direct anyone to come and help because you have no idea how you got there.

You feel isolated and confused.

‘Why would anyone place me there?’ you ask. Why would someone deprive you of what is ideal and decide that you deserved less than the best? It’s cruel; it’s inhumane; you don’t belong there, but this is your reality.

I know you feel you can’t possibly survive what you are going through, but trust me, you can. I know you feel like curling up into a ball and giving up but there is too much at stake – you.

I know you’re in a strange place, Sis, but make the most of what you have. Greatness doesn’t start out pretty. It is birthed in the absence of “ideal.”

You feel far removed and out of your element. It doesn’t feel good, but this is home for now.

Whenever you find yourself in that place, make the best of it. What you are going through is temporary. Don’t fight you circumstance. Accept it and learn to embrace it. Good will come from this if you allow yourself to grow.

Cling to the resources that you do have and be determined to grow and be successful despite your predicament.

You will be amazed at your ability to adapt to your circumstance. Trust the hand that placed you where you are. God will always give you what you need to not just survive, but thrive.

In due time, you will bear fruit that is unmatched. Fruit that will nourish generations to come.
