Two years ago, we interviewed Dr. Nothabo Ncube and featured her story on our website. Her world was shattered when her mother died when she was just 14. At the funeral, the young teenager made a promise to her mother as she stood over her casket: she would make her mother proud and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Years later, she did, but her journey was filled with interesting twists and turns.
“Financial constraints were a huge road block. To an extent where one lady who was a total stranger living a few blocks from me gave me $10, 000 which went a long way in helping me with my schooling,” she told The Weight She Carries back in 2018.
Other quotes we loved from her interview are:
“I received a lot of resistance from friends and family because they did not understand why I wanted to take the path I desired. I have learnt that when you are chasing your purpose, not all will understand or connect to that. Not everyone understands that it can be one’s purpose to serve and change lives.”
There is provision assigned to your vision. Your duty is to step in and be obedient. All will fall into place. – Dr. Nothabo Ncube
Her story is such an inspiration. Read about her story here.
