The Scent of Beauty

“Personality is to a [person] what perfume is to a flower.” – Charles M. Schwab

I cannot describe just how wonderful Brunfelsia flowers smell. The flowers are beautiful but the scent absolutely draws you in. I have often thought that I wish I could bottle the scent up and wear it as a perfume. Perfume allows the scent of a flower to be captured for a longer period than the flower’s natural lifetime. I am sure I would not be willing to stop and admire them, let alone get close enough to photograph them, if they produced a horrendous scent.

The same is true for humans. We are often told, especially as women, that our value comes from how we look. So we can find ourselves sacrificing our time, money, and sanity to try and look “perfect”. I do not think wanting to be beautiful is a bad thing. I just think that it is vital to have a good heart. After all, that is what we are left with long after the world no longer sees us as physically attractive.
