A broken heart feels like your heart is separated into tiny pieces, like the walls are closing in on you. You might put on a happy face, but when night comes and you are lying in bed, tears start streaming down your cheeks and the weight of the hurt is heavy on your chest. You wonder if you will ever make it to see the following day. You feel completely alone and think that everyone is laughing and talking about you.
In this state, you think God has neglected you. Sometimes you stop praying and question God’s existence because the pain is so unbearable. As hard as these situations are, we can find comfort in God’s word. He never promised a life without heartaches.
His word gives us promises to hold on to when those times come. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (KJV). God is giving assurance that if you come to him with your troubles, He will give you peace. Isaiah 41:10 states, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (NKJV).
Whenever your heart is broken, remember God is near. God will strengthen you and He is with you. Hard times will not last forever. God has a plan for your life; do not give up. Trust God even if it does not make sense to you. Surrender all unto Him and He will mend your broken heart.
