“I couldn’t quite comprehend the weight of my disease until I saw my father weep and my mother’s health decline, and my grandparents take extended fasts. It was scary to see my whole family go down with me, and I think it’s at that time when I really understood how much they loved me as their only child. I told myself during the time that I had to survive for them, for their sake, so that their lives could be restored. I admit, I had resolved my own death, but I knew it was selfish to accept defeat especially when it affected so many people. To succumb to cancer would have totally shattered my family and I wanted to at least give it my best shot and trust that God would do a miracle, which is what he did.”
