My Weight Loss Journey – Trust The Process

Each time someone posted a picture of their weight loss transformation, I was curious how long it took them to see results. I was really getting impatient. Four weeks into my weight loss journey, no one was saying anything or even acknowledging that I was making progress. I was almost sure that my plan wasn’t working.

This was far from the truth. I was comparing myself to other people and yet everyone was different.  It took Precious a full year for her to reach her goal weight. Margaret was done in just 3 months while it took a year and six months for Angeline.

To be honest, my four weeks were nothing compared to others. Then I realized that it wasn’t about the time it took or compliments from other people. It was more than that. It was a process and the results could not be achieved overnight.

The trick was just trusting the process. It didn’t matter that I wasn’t seeing the results right away, what mattered was me believing that I would get there if I didn’t give up.

Whatever journey you are on will produce results in due time. There are no shortcuts to success. Don’t give up because you seem to be taking longer to reach your goal than others, or because no one is seeing the results yet. It could take you more than a year to achieve what Margaret achieved in just 3 months, but that doesn’t make your process inferior. Results are results.  Know your goal, trust the process and keep pushing until you make it.

Hello Shamiso! This is so true. Comparison can truly hinder a person’s progress in any aspect of their life. But for women this is definitely important to reemphasize concerning weight loss. Your article is very relevant to me right now, as I am one of the those people who view endless weight loss pics. 🙂 We try NOT to compare but it can be difficult. Thank you for bringing me back into focus!
