It’s quite sad how we are sometimes so quick to conclude that we have failed in life when we still have a whole life ahead of us.
There is a general misconception that if we don’t get our way the first time, we have failed. As a result, many dreams remain unfulfilled. I’ve refused to subscribe to this line of thinking and believe that as long as I’m alive, I still have a second chance at everything. I am not a failure.
[ctt template=”8″ link=”KTC7f” via=”no” ]The problem is often rooted in ignorance. We are rarely open to the idea of trying again. So we miss out on many second chances.[/ctt]
This reminds me of my high school days.
My first ‘O’ Level (high school final exams) sitting was OK but far from great. I had passed and could have easily proceeded to the next level (‘A’ Level), but I was not happy with my results. Instead of focusing on moving forward, all I wanted was a chance to go back and prove to myself that I could do better. It had everything to do with not fulfilling my goals.
I had two choices: go forward with mediocre results, which would mean settling for lackluster opportunities, or go back and work on getting better grades and the future I had always envisioned.
I grabbed the chance to work harder with both hands and retook my exams. No, I couldn’t regain the time I lost in the process, but it was more than worth the sacrifice because I knew I was going to get what I wanted in the end.
It wasn’t easy. I had to deal with a lot of criticism and lost friends in the process, but I don’t regret my decision to start over because it shaped me into the woman I am now.
In the end, the decisions we make today shape our tomorrow. Define your goals and make sure you achieve them, even if it means starting all over again.
