One of the things I treasure deeply about The Weight She Carries is the enthusiasm our contributors possess and their willingness to open up the most vulnerable parts of themselves to share their innermost thoughts and emotions with us. Kim Mukwa is no different.
Kim reached out to me back in December 2017. TWSC was just months old and she was one of the first people to contact me. You see, when I launched the website, I had no idea who would gravitate to the content. My plan was to execute what I believed God had placed on my heart, but I didn’t know who it was for – that came later. When I received Kim’s email, I was elated.
“l feel l have a story to tell,” Kim wrote in her email to me. “I want to share my story and perhaps it can bring healing and encouragement to someone.” And boy has it ever…
Kim’s story blew me away. It was raw, heart wrenching and inspiring all at the same time. This particular quote stayed with me.
“Forgiveness has been the most difficult part of my journey. “How do I forgive dead people?” was the question I always asked myself. I couldn’t forgive my mother for leaving me in the hands of a woman who found pleasure in torturing me, and how could I forgive the woman who violated me in ways that still bring tears to my eyes?”
After sharing her story, Kim wanted to know how she could become more involved with TWSC and help other women share their stories as well. Over the years, Kim has continued to open up about her healing journey and has written many stories on outstanding women she has interviewed for TWSC. You can read all her articles here.
Here are some things you may find interesting about Kim:

3. If you could be mentored by anyone, past or present, who would you choose and why?

l am most proud of motherhood. These two boys never seize to amaze me everyday.
5. What is your typical day like?
Gosh! I’m the first one up to make sure that by the time my little one is up, his porridge is ready lol. The rest of the day just rushes by because everyone is demanding a piece of me. That’s a typical day for me. The joys of motherhood.

13. Tell us about an embarrassing moment as a teenager.
One of the most embarrassing moments as a teenager was when my so-called boyfriend at the time rejected me via a note he had scribbled on. Everyone read the note and l cried my eyes out lol. 14. What do you like most and least about adulting?
What l like least about adulting is just having to plan everything for everyone – from where their toothbrush is to where their toys are. Don’t get me wrong, l enjoy motherhood but l get tired sometimes nd still have to press on.

- I was originally named Samantha Kim Mukwa, but now go by Kim Mukwa.
