Earlier this week, we introduced you to one of our contributors – Tatenda Rungisa. Well, today you’ll be getting to know Tatenda’s twin sister Tafadzwa Rungisa-Chivenge!
Taffy joined our team as a contributor in July 2020. She inquired about writing opportunities with TWSC and it was an easy yes for me. I knew her indirectly through her sister, and I was aware of some of the projects she was involved with. Like this piece we did on the twins’ business ventures.
Her first story was published later that month, and it was moving. Taffy is incredibly driven and a joy to work with. I admire her go-getter attitude and she has submitted countless stories on the notable women entrepreneurs she interviews. It’s truly an honour to have her on our team.
Here’s more about who Taffy is:
1.What did you dream of becoming as a kid?
My dream was to become a lawyer. I always pictured myself in lawyer regalia fighting for women and human rights in court.
2.Tell us the worst trouble you got into as a child.
My parents were strict when raising me (together with 3 siblings). Just like any normal child, one gets mischievous one way or the other. The worst trouble was staying late at a best friend’s birthday party and [missing] my curfew at home. I really got in trouble and will never forget that day!
3. Have you ever pretended to be your twin sister and gotten away with it?
I have always pretended to be my twin sister and get away with it. Kkkk…for instance at the bank, I produce her identification card and no one notices it’s not me and it feels good! I also do that a lot in public when I want to avoid talking to certain people whom I know. I simply pretend to be my twin sister, wave and move on.
4. If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?
If I could switch lives with anyone it would be Oprah Winfrey. My reason being she’s one phenomenal lady who has positively changed the lives of many people around the world.
5. If you could be mentored by anyone, past or present, who would you choose and why?
If I could be mentored by anyone, past or present I would choose Bishop TD Jakes. Being a spiritual being, I believe growing spiritually on a daily basis is essential for everyone. In addition, he is an inspiration because he also guides [people] in different aspects of life through his sermons.
6. What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the lady I have become, together with my twin sister. We have managed to start up our company, TwinConnect, and have been able to embrace both our talents within our baby. I love TwinConnect.
7. What is your typical day like?
My typical day starts off with prayer. I believe every single day I should start off by thanking God for my life and my loved ones, and asking for His Will for that particular day. I usually write my to-do list the day before to plan my day. I have a full-time job and TwinConnect as well, so I make sure I manage those and ensure each is given enough time.
8. What 3 words describe you the best?
Three words to best describe me :
a. Hardworking – I am a go-getter and do not settle for less
b. Prayerful – I have so much God confidence
c. I do not pretend to be who I am not – if I do not like something, I make it clear and the other way round
9. Flats of heels?
Heels!
10. What is your favourite meal?
Macaroni and cheese.
11. What’s your least favourite house chore?
Laundry.
12. What is your biggest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is people who pretend. I have great respect for people who show their true colours even if they do not like something. Pretense to me is the highest level of dishonesty.
13. If you had to go into isolation for 30 days and electronics were not allowed, what would your 3 must haves be?
- My hubby
- My twin
- Cookbook
14. Any hidden talents? Tell us something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I love cooking and I believe I am good at it.
15.Tell us about an embarrassing moment as a teenager.
The most embarrassing moment was when I fell in town while doing some errands.
16. What do you like most and least about adulting?
What I like most about adulting is making my own decisions and being independent. The worst thing about adulting is there is no giving up no matter what, and there is no time for pity parties. When you have a bad day or experience, you cannot be a cry baby about it. You have to dust yourself off and move on like nothing ever happened.
17. What do you love most about being a woman?
What I love most about being a woman is the power to make things happen.
18. What are you most grateful for in this season of your life?
I am grateful for life, for my family – dad and siblings (my everything), and being still here even with this Covid pandemic. Last, but not least, I am grateful for a supportive partner, my husband.
