Dig Deep

I look around me and see different kinds of people, but I take special notice of the women, whom l call ladies. When l see these ladies, I am often intrigued because I can relate to some of their struggles.

I know what it is like to be scorned, denied and rejected when you give your heart and have it pushed away. I know how life can leave you cold and empty and have you live according to other people’s dictates.

For example, you may believe that without another person’s approval, you cannot fully function; without makeup, you are not beautiful enough; or without a certain body, you are not attractive enough.

Well, I am done with that, because now I have learnt a couple of things: self-love, self-appreciation and self acceptance. I know now that true beauty stems from within. True beauty stems from self appreciation, appreciating and embracing the glorious mess that you are.

How will you get along with other people if you cannot get along with yourself? How do you become a peacemaker when you do not have inner peace? How do you see the beauty around you when all you feel is ugliness within? Pertinent questions right?

When we learn to love ourselves, we become truly beautiful. When we embrace our flaws, we then embrace our perfection, for where there is a flaw, there is perfection too.

To you, my lady, l say dig deep. Turn yourself upside down and shake out the negativity. Hit the delete button every time something negative wants to.pull you down. You are a unique mess and that makes you intriguing.

So next time someone tries to pull you down, or you do it yourself, just remember to tune out that negativity because it is not a worthwhile use of your energy. And finally, respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, fosters your growth or makes you happy.
