One thing I always try to tell every woman I meet is that the magnificence of every flower is only seen when it blossoms. Before a bud blooms, it has no footprint of any significance no matter how many people know of its potential beauty.
I’ve heard many talented people say they’re waiting for the right opportunity to start making a living out of their gifts, and how they’re waiting for the right opportunity to showcase their talents. So much time passes by and nothing really materializes. In the end, their growth remains stagnant.
To be honest, very few will trust you enough to give you an opportunity when they have no idea how good you are. Instead, you have to be bold and seize every opportunity that comes by. It’s your job to make everyone believe you’re good at what you do. When you do get that chance, give it your all and make it worth their time and money.
It reminds me of the first time I was the hairdresser for a wedding party. I asked the bride-to-be to allow me to style her bridesmaids on her wedding day and she was hesitant because she had no idea if I was good enough. She told me she had someone else in mind, so I let it go.
The day of the wedding came and the hairdresser she hired was nowhere to be found. I received a call at around 4 a.m. asking me to come and save the day. I did my best and everyone was happy with the work I did.
If I hadn’t asked for a chance to prove myself, I would have lost out on the opportunity thinking my chance would eventually fall into my lap.
Even though I’ve now established a name for myself, I still continue to seek out other opportunities with people who are unfamiliar with how good I am.
