Loving the Real Me

Learning to be grateful for what makes you unique.

I can think back to countless times in my younger days when I picked myself apart and found everything wrong with me. From my height, to my facial features, and even my personality. One thing that bothered me the most was the fact that no matter where I went, I always felt different. But now that I’ve settled into my 30s and have children of my own, I’m so grateful for the things about myself that I once despised. Because it’s those very things that make me special and unique.

I came across a TED Talk by a beautiful young woman named MaameYaa Boafo, who tells her story of pursuing her dreams. I hope it inspires you to appreciate the unique gifts you have even when no one else understands them. Check it out below!
