My Weight Loss Journey – Challenge On Repeat

I don’t quite understand why we sometimes think one accomplishment is enough to cover us for a lifetime. For some reason, it’s easy to think that achieving a certain goal makes us masters, and that we’ll never be faced with such a milestone again.

Then, the moment one challenge seems to recur, it’s easier to conclude that it’s one’s fate and destiny. I really wish life could be that simple.

I have witnessed people with weight loss goals begin and quit the same diet and workout routines over and over again, and I always thought they were just trying to run away from the fact that they were meant to be big.

The day I found myself in the same predicament is the day my narrow-minded fantasy burst.

Initially, I never imagined that I would go through the same process all over again. I had reached my goal and thought I was set for life, but I was in for a rude awakening.

Careless habits took me back to the beginning of my journey. I gained back the pounds and I knew I had to redo the process all over again. Today, I must confess that I have lost count of the number of times I backslid, but I am proud to say I never gave up.

The highlight of this journey for me is never the moment I reach my goal, but the moment I choose to keep pushing no matter what the challenge is ahead of me.

Bodies will fluctuate here and there, but don’t give your mind the satisfaction of believing that it has the right to waver. Keep pushing even when you have to retrace your footsteps, figure out where you went wrong, and start all over again.
