The promises of God are for us. The first step to possessing the promises of God is to find as many Scriptures as you can that have the promises you need and begin reading and meditating on them. Hosea 4:6 says “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (NIV).
It is important to know what God’s Word says and has promised. It is a key to possessing the promises. The Word of God is key to anything that you desire. It unlocks the doors that are said to be closed by the enemy. It resurrects dead things in your life. Know the promises of God and you will be unstoppable.
Finding the promises of God in the Bible is very important but just because there is a promise in the Bible, it does not mean that you are automatically going to possess it. Hebrews 6:12 says “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised” (NIV).
It takes faith to possess the promises of God. Believing God and His Word is a critical part of faith. This means when you meditate on Scripture and believe that it is done, you begin to speak it until you are convinced without doubt that the Lord will supply.
Doubting God and thinking the promise is not for you will rob you of the promises of God. Doubt and unbelief are the enemies of faith. You must believe without doubting or wavering to receive the promises. James 1:6 states “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind” (NIV).
To possess the promises of God, you must declare with your mouth. Use your mouth to bless yourself and you shall possess the promises of God which are in His Word.
